For
the past five years Dave has had the honour of being the York
Regional Police Board Chair. The police services profile has
been raised significantly during this time with safety programs
in all of our neighbourhoods. Dave has overseen the greatest
hiring process in the history of the service. This process
which has significantly increased safety and security for
our Town.
"These are difficult times. New types of crime like
marajuana grow-ops, home invaisions and gangs are on the rise
throughout the GTA. I want the citizens of Richmond Hill to
know that we have taken and will continue to take all steps
necessary to ensure their safety.
The Police Board, with Dave as it's Chair, recently held
a Guns, Gangs and Youth Crime Community forum with the school
boards, social service agencies and youth themselves to determine
how we, as a Region, can avoid the tremendous violence that
takes place just south of Steeles. There is a total community
solution required before it becomes a police problem.
Dave was instrumental in the hiring of popular York Regional
Police Chief, Armand La Barge. Chief Labarge was recently
awarded the Order Of Merit in Rideau Hall by Governor General
Michaelle Jean. The Chief received the Order for his contributions
to ethical and competent policing.

"We are extremely fortunate to have Armand La Barge
as our Chief. It is most gratifying to see his efforts so
highly recognized and rewarded."
