As
a member of the York Region Transit Committee Dave is extraordinarily
pleased with Richmond Hill's response to the new Viva rapid
transit service. It has become the third highest growth transit
system in Canada. Couple this with the Smart Commute Program
Dave helped introduce and you have employers and employees
working together to reduce single car trips, reduce traffic
on our roads and go a long way towards reducing gridlock here
in our Town.
"York Region saw ridership grow by more than 10 per
cent with the introduction of a new bus-based rapid transit
system called Viva." Toronto Star, Mar 5, 2006
The user friendly Viva buses have "face each other"
seating available. The new service unites our community as
never before and, with the addition of Mobility Plus, further
opens up York region to the handicapped passenger.
Viva buses are a convenient and environmentally responsible
alternative to the automobile. They are economical too as
regular riders save not only time, fuel, insurance, maintenance
and parking costs but "traffic nerves" as well.

"Our state-of-the-art buses now service the Yonge Street
corridor from Finch to Newmarket. The next phase will see
a dedicated bus line created up the centre of Yonge Street
over the entire distance."
