Mayor's blood clinic will pump up holiday
supply
Richmond Hill - Richmond Hill Mayor Dave
Barrow, along with town councillors and staff, are sponsoring
the mayor’s blood donor clinic on Thursday, Aug. 9 at
the Hillcrest Mall Blood Donor Clinic, 9350 Yonge Street,
from 4 to 8 p.m.
“I encourage all Richmond Hill residents to make donating
blood a part of your summer plans by attending the upcoming
mayor’s blood donor clinic and perform a great civic
duty,” Mayor Barrow said.
“It takes less than an hour and your one donation can
help improve or save up to three lives.”
The donations are crucial for Canadian Blood Services to
continue and serve our hospitals as York Central, said regional
director for Canadian Blood Services, Renee Naiman.
Ms Naiman said the clinic comes at a time that historically
can be very difficult to collect blood.
“The summer holidays are always a difficult time for
the blood system. Blood donations traditionally decrease because
people are away on holidays or busy with family activities,
but the demand for blood usually increases due in part to
an increase in traffic on our waterways and highways (and
the accidents associated with them).”
