Free Outdoor Concerts In Richmond Hill Begin Next Week

The Town of Richmond Hill’s famous, free, outdoor Concerts in the Park series is back by popular demand on Thursday evenings and three Sunday afternoons in July and August, featuring an exciting line-up of talent catering to a wide variety of ages and musical tastes.

“Concerts in the Park are a long-standing tradition in Richmond Hill and this year’s line-up is looking as good as ever!” said Lynton Friedberg, Commissioner of Parks, Recreation & Culture.

This year’s performers are sure to have everyone singing along with acts ranging from Jerry Lee Lewis and Elvis tributes to children’s performers to Caribbean to the famous local country act, The Good Brothers, of worldwide acclaim to name a few.

“Richmond Hill is lucky to have such a beautiful, small-town, park setting at Mill Pond for the Thursday concerts where residents can just listen to music and relax,” said Friedberg. “And our location at Richmond Green is the perfect outdoor amphitheatre for enjoying Sunday afternoon concerts.”

Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, blankets or cushions to each concert for seating. Concerts will be held at the picturesque Mill Pond Park (north of Major Mackenzie Drive, west of Yonge Street, at the northwest corner of Mill and Trench Streets) and at Richmond Green Park (1300 Elgin Mills Road East, at the northwest corner of Elgin Mills Road and Leslie Street, at the outdoor amphitheatre north of the Sports Complex). For a nominal fee, Thursday evening concert goers at Mill Pond Park can enjoy a barbecue from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Additionally, an Old Tyme Corn Roast will be held on August 16, 23 and 30.

If a concert has to be cancelled due to weather, a notice will be posted on the Mill Pond gazebo by 7 p.m., or at the Richmond Green park sign by 4 p.m., on the day of the concert notifying attendees.

For 32 years the Concerts in the Park series has been a highlight of summer in Richmond Hill, bringing together residents of all ages for musical entertainment and a neighbourhood barbecue throughout July and August.

Please see attached schedule and backgrounder for more details.
